PROMICS SPECTROGRAM
PROM OBJECTS
PROMICS-3 is the hot plasma mass-spectrometer
onboard INTERBALL/TAIL and AURORAL satellites. It consists of 3 ion units
(TRICS-1, -2, -3) covering energy range 5 eV - 1.5 keV, 1 keV - 30 keV, 5 keV - 70 keV
for 4 masses and electron unit (MEPS) measuring electrons in energy range 10 eV - 40 keV.
TRICS-1,-2 and MEPS have fan-shape aperture
with 180^o polar angle surveyed by 5 detectors (TRICS-1,-2) and 8 detectors (MEPS).
TRICS-3 has one detector with polar looking angle of 40^o.
Polar axis is the spacecraft spin axis directed sunward.
During one spacecraft revolution (2 min) instrument obtains up to 32 energy spectra (depending on
mode of operation)
associated with corresponding number of azimuthal directions, covering full sphere.

Available objects are:

PROMT1(2) - color coded Energy versus Time spectrogram
of PROMICS unit TRICS-1 or TRICS-2.
Countrate
of the detector per second is encoded by
color. Color coding can be displayed
by PROMSCALE object.
These objects show just raw data.
Because of different geometrical factors for
different channels comparision between them
should be done with care.
These objects do not need any settings in
XRange and YRange fields.
The object is called with two parameters defining detector (0 - 4)
and mass (0 - 3). Detector 4 is the most sunward looking detector,
detector 0 - tailward. Mass levels 0 - 3 correspond to H+, O+,
He++ and He+.
Corresponding object for Auroral Probe is APROMT1(2).

defining mass (0 - 3).

PROMT1T2 - color coded Energy versus Time Combined spectrogram
of PROMICS units TRICS1 and 2.
The object is called with two parameters
defining detector (0 - 4) and mass (0 - 3).
Corresponding object for Auroral Probe is APROMT1T2.
NOTE:
For the moment energy levels 0 - 15 for TRICS-1 and 0 - 28 for TRICS-2
are used in this object (Highest energy corresponds to energy level N=0.)

PROMSCALE - Color Scale for countrate
for PROMT1(2,3) objects. This object
does not need Xrange and Yrange.
Number of spectra per graph and color scale
are controlled by "promcom.res" file :
